John Rusnak is a Los Angeles based pianist and film composer.

He creates music for piano, pipe organ, brass, voice and synthetic. Cultivating many musical styles throughout his career, John’s work encompasses genres ranging from classical, jazz, rock, pop, electronica and ambient. Influences include: Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Faure, Finzi, Bach, Scriabin, Tangerine Dream, Wayne Shorter, Alfred Brendel, Xenakis, Chet Baker, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Oscar Peterson, Hendrix, Jerry Goldsmith

John Rusnak is the Founder/CEO of Visionmark Records.

John recorded the original piano music, solos and cues for the film Unity Temple: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Modern Masterpiece. This acclaimed documentary was directed by Lauren Levine, scored by Barbara Cohen, and narrated by Oscar Winning actor Brad Pitt.

John recorded piano solos for the 2021 PBS American Experience film Citizen Hearst. He released a new solo album in 2020, Blue, on Visionmark Records. He recorded Beethoven's “Moonlight Sonata” for the Emmy Nominated PBS film Chasing The Moon, which aired worldwide in 2019.

John wrote the score for the award winning 2018 film Sin Fronteras, and he is the credited pianist for the 2018 Sony movie Searching. In 2017, he was the credited pianist for the score of the movie Slipaway, the Hinterland Studio release The Long Dark, MGM's Max 2: White House Hero, and the Stephen Baldwin produced film How I Got Here: The Story Of The Thief On The Cross. He recorded with orchestra for the 2016 release PAPA, and the 2013 PBS Civil War picture Rebel.

His credited performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, was recorded for the 2010 Lleju-Sony Pictures release Unthinkable, starring Samuel L. Jackson. John's performance of Chopin was recorded for the "lost" Vincent Gallo movie Johnny 316, distributed in 2013. He recorded with orchestra for the soundtrack of the 2011 film The Washingtons of Sulgrave Manor. In addition, his credited solo playing is heard throughout the award winning 2007 film Steal A Pencil For Me, which was screened at the UN.

John's solo performance of Chopin was recorded for the Showtime movie Down Came A Blackbird, and the USA TV series Highlander. His solo jazz and improvisational piano playing is heard in the Canal+ movie Chinese Box, and the Hollywood Pictures film The Tie That Binds.

John’s Visionmark Records CD of the J.S. Bach Goldberg Variations was featured on the hit CW Network TV series Smallville. Track 22 of his recording of the Goldberg Variations, Variation 21: Canon On The Seventh, was heard during the opening scene of the episode "Arrow." Track 3 of his Visionmark Records Chopin Etudes CD, Opus 10, No.3 in E Major: Lento, ma non troppo, was also featured on Smallville, beginning the episode "Bound”.

He has been published as a pop and rock songwriter with Warner Brothers Publications, Bourne Company, OCP Publications, and Alfred Music.
